Molly Parker—Many in SoILL know this story well. Worth the read for more on the long-term consequences of the Corps’ hesitation twitter.com/propublica/sta
Went and read this story. It is one of the most thoroughly resaerched and accurate accounts of the 2011 flood. There are only a few additions that I would make, but they did a great job telling this story. The largest impact from the 2011 flood in the Olive Branch, Miller City, and Sandusky areas did not have to happen. Millions of dollars in damages done directly to Alexander County, followed by millions more in lost revenue are the result of not opening the floodway when the law called for it to be opened. And yes, RD James being the highest ranking civilian in the Corps is a concern.
