Ives gonna Ives
Wednesday, Oct 31, 2018 - Posted by Rich Miller
* Rep. Jeanne Ives was asked this about Gov. Rauner on the Big John and Ramblin’ Ray show…
So, you’re going to vote for him, but you’re not endorsing him - Isn’t that kind of a distinction without a difference?”
* Her response…
I imagine it would be, but an endorsement would be like a strong appeal for this guy to have four more years, and, look, I feel like part of being a Republican, quite frankly, and being in that contest against him. But you know, I will vote for him. He won fair and square, I guess. But you know, I can’t stand on the stage and endorse somebody who’s done some of the stuff he’s done. And you’re right it’s a distinction without a difference, but that’s where I stand.
And after bemoaning the negative attacks this election cycle against Republicans, Rep. Ives went on to say that a grand jury should be empaneled to indict Pritzker, his wife and his brother-in-law over that property tax thing.

Kinda late to the Party no? Ifyou cared about theGOP you would have made a comment like that in April.
- Retired Educator - Wednesday, Oct 31, 18 @ 12:06 pm:
Ives your taxi is waiting. Get in and go away. Your 15 minutes are up.
- Huh? - Wednesday, Oct 31, 18 @ 12:07 pm:
This kind of 2 faced weaselly explanation is disgusting. Either endorse him or vote for someone else.
- Just Observing - Wednesday, Oct 31, 18 @ 12:16 pm:
Umm… I don’t see it as a distinction without a difference. Voting for someone and endorsing them are really two different things — I guess it gets murkier if you you publicly say you are voting for someone but not endorsing them.
- Real - Wednesday, Oct 31, 18 @ 12:16 pm:
Ive’s.. Your supporters voted for you because they could not vote for Rauner. They had a backbone to vote for what they belueve in.. Obviously you don’t have that same backbone.
- Montrose - Wednesday, Oct 31, 18 @ 12:17 pm:
The essay portion of her ballot is going to take her awhile when she enters the voting booth.
- Southfarmllama - Wednesday, Oct 31, 18 @ 12:18 pm:
This is so rich. She is just so full of hate. I love it.
- driveby - Wednesday, Oct 31, 18 @ 12:20 pm:
Rauner stole the primary from her with the biggest lie in IL political history. More importantly, name even one person in either party in the General Assembly with her level of understanding of our fiscal situation
- Cream of Wheaton - Wednesday, Oct 31, 18 @ 12:22 pm:
Jeanne Ives cares only for her political career and her Handler Dan Profit. Jeanne has caused a broad swath of destruction to the Republican Party.
- Chris P. Bacon - Wednesday, Oct 31, 18 @ 12:23 pm:
Sheesh, how embarrassing. I’m not endorsing him even though I say I’m voting for him, which is a kind of an endorsement. But I’m actually really not going to vote for him anyway if I was being honest.
And once again we see why Ives lost a race to the most unpopular IL GOP incumbent in generations, a primary a ham sandwich could have one. Of course the ham sandwich wouldn’t have blown big chunk of its funding on a juvenile ad with a man in a dress. Next!
- Ducky LaMoore - Wednesday, Oct 31, 18 @ 12:26 pm:
Jeanne Ives, leader of the Republican Zombie Caucus. “Must vote Republican. Must vote Republican. Brains. Brains.”
The absolute worst thing about politicians of either party is their complete lack of willingness to vote for the other side when it is warranted. You practically had to hit them over the head to distance themselves from a neo-nazi. Why?

–Ives your taxi is waiting. Get in and go away. Your 15 minutes are up.–
I doubt that very much. Who wouldn’t take another shot after getting 48.6% against an incumbent in a primary?
- AlfondoGonz - Wednesday, Oct 31, 18 @ 12:29 pm:
Gross than anyone can think this person is fit to represent any community.

===with the biggest lie in IL political history===
Oh, stop being so dramatic.
===name even one person in either party in the General Assembly with her level of understanding of our fiscal situation===
Seriously? An ability to rhetorically criticize the fiscal situation doesn’t mean she understands how to fix it.
- NeverPoliticallyCorrect - Wednesday, Oct 31, 18 @ 12:41 pm:
It’s a “Hold Your Nose” vote. We’ve all done it. But her ability to communicate is just so flawed. She is not the future of the Republican Party in Illinois. Problem is, I am not sure who is.
- Oswego Willy - Wednesday, Oct 31, 18 @ 12:41 pm:
Ives will be backstopped by Uihlein.
Ives can’t turn on “Republicans” then in 4 years run fir giverbjr. Ives knows she needs to seem to want to be a party unifying person.
Right now, Ives is a “protest vote against Rauner”
Ives is building off that splash. Makes sense.
- VanillaMan - Wednesday, Oct 31, 18 @ 12:46 pm:
I’m stunned at all the sexist comments being posted here. If she was a man, you’d all be a lot more understanding. /$
- Cheryl44 - Wednesday, Oct 31, 18 @ 12:56 pm:
Actually VMan, I’m happy to see her criticized w/o the usual sexist claptrap I see from both conservative and liberal men.
- We'll See - Wednesday, Oct 31, 18 @ 1:07 pm:
I do love when members of the GOP decry someone’s avoidance of taxes while railing aganst high property taxes. I’m glad they all proudly pay up.
- Soccermom - Wednesday, Oct 31, 18 @ 1:08 pm:
Montrose, that was hilarious.
- Jocko - Wednesday, Oct 31, 18 @ 1:21 pm:
“While I don’t approve of Bruce calling me a Madigan lackey, I do approve of him having a “R” after his name.”
- Demoralized - Wednesday, Oct 31, 18 @ 1:26 pm:
==name even one person in either party in the General Assembly with her level of understanding of our fiscal situation==
lol. Ives is just as much of a blowhard as anyone else. Being a blowhard doesn’t make her an expert.
- Just Me - Wednesday, Oct 31, 18 @ 1:28 pm:
Ives is one of those people who would rather have a Democrat in charge so she can have more fun complaining about them then trying to compromise with a moderate Republican.
- Cream of Wheaton - Wednesday, Oct 31, 18 @ 1:50 pm:
The funny thing is Jeannie’s District which is 42 will eventually be taken over by a Democrat Kathleen carrier and her Mini-Me, Amy Grant, is going down in flames
- driveby - Wednesday, Oct 31, 18 @ 2:09 pm:
OK, Rich, please put up. Name a few you think are best capable of solving our fiscal crisis. And name an IL political lie bigger than Ive-as-Madigan friend.
- Liandro - Wednesday, Oct 31, 18 @ 2:20 pm:
First: voting for someone is not the same as a full-throated endorsement.
Second: opposing someone in the primary, then holding your nose to vote for them in the general isn’t “2 faced weaselly”. It’s pretty much standard in our democratic republic.
Off hand I don’t think I’ve ever voted in the general election for a Presidential candidate or gubernatorial candidate that I had already voted for in the primary.
That said, I understand why Democrats are enjoying making this year’s Republican primary last all the way up to the November election.
- wordslinger - Wednesday, Oct 31, 18 @ 2:23 pm:
–I understand why Democrats are enjoying making this year’s Republican primary last all the way up to the November election.–
LOL, the Ives and Rauner that Democrats control.
- Old and In The Way - Wednesday, Oct 31, 18 @ 2:23 pm:
“Name even one person in either party in the Heneral Assembly with her level of understanding of our fiscal situation”
Really? I have heard nothing from her that even suggests she has a grasp of the situation beyond the usual overblown scare scenarios let alone a viable solution. In fact I can think of at least a dozen or so representatives from both parties far more knowledgeable and capable.
- Old and In The Way - Wednesday, Oct 31, 18 @ 2:24 pm:
General not Heneral……sorry, fat fingers.
- L.A. - Wednesday, Oct 31, 18 @ 2:26 pm:
OK, driveby. Name all of the policies that Ives has introduced or championed that will improve the fiscal reality for the State of IL
- Liandro - Wednesday, Oct 31, 18 @ 2:39 pm:
“LOL, the Ives and Rauner that Democrats control”
Don’t get me wrong, Republicans are providing all the content. The Dems don’t have to do much to exploit it, lol.
- driveby - Wednesday, Oct 31, 18 @ 2:52 pm:
The General Assembly has no more than 8 or 10 members who have even a feeble understanding of our fiscal matters. They are dumb as rocks. Of those few, more than half lie about it, including all Dems in that count. Cullerton is an example of one smart enough to understand, but denies there’s a crisis.
- Joe blow - Wednesday, Oct 31, 18 @ 5:24 pm:
Who cares what ms Ives thinks anyway
