* I wasn’t feeling great when I woke up early this morning, but I quickly rallied and started writing the subscriber edition, but then wrote myself into a corner and eventually decided my main story needed more time and thought. Needless to say, this has most definitely not been an optimal morning for yours truly. How’s your morning so far?

Hoping for no (or less) rain today. Will maybe cut the lawn. Still cloudy but sun is supposed to arrive later.

Still disappointed with the bleepin’ White Sox. This season was supposed to be much better than this.

===This season was supposed to be===

It’s April. Also, the amount of irrational exuberance about 2022 has been a bit much.

Despite the threat of storms, garage sale is off to a good start. I am told receipts of nearly $37 so far. Woo hoo.

  4. - Nagidam - Friday, Apr 29, 22 @ 8:54 am:

Second cup of coffee. Made a nice omelet with turkey, cheese, and avocado topped with salsa and paired with some fruit. So far, a healthy day.

Here is a random factoid. SIU Saluki Baseball is having a great year. RPI in the 70’s. 29-11 on the year.

  6. - Grandson of Man - Friday, Apr 29, 22 @ 8:57 am:

Glad to see you felt better quickly, Rich. The coffee has been real helpful over here this morning, in getting things going.

    ugh traffic…..

That second cup of coffee is so clarifying. No meetings today, no appointments, just a day to catch up. If coffee doesn’t do the trick, try a morning nap or a walk. May your thoughts become clear and calm.

The dog walkers aren’t wearing winter hats today, so it must be warmer than it’s been. The front lawn is, IMHO, unkempt. But I don’t mow it so I’m not going to complain to anyone. That’s something I learned about living in a condo building–unless it’s serious, leave it alone.

Slept a bit later than usual. Now I really need to get moving because I have a Zoom class at 10:00.

I’ve never had coffee. I usually have Coke or Cherry Coke to get my day going. Do you coffee folks burn your mouth often or just let it cool to a slightly warm? I legit don’t know.

  12. - H-W - Friday, Apr 29, 22 @ 9:22 am:

I had a busy morning just getting ready to go to work, as well. Some days are like that, right? Hope your day brings good things, Rich.

Sox fan here but the clip of Wilson Contreras and his brother exchanging lineup cards yesterday got me in the feels.

Happy Lee Elia Day! April 29th, 1983

39 years later and it’s still the best rant in all of baseball.

Solid Cards win followed up by breakfast with my son. Can’t get much better

  17. - OneMan - Friday, Apr 29, 22 @ 9:42 am:

Feeling yesterday’s swim, which I guess means I did it right.

A pedestrian incident on the BNSF made my decision to WFH today easy.

  18. - Dog Lover - Friday, Apr 29, 22 @ 10:46 am:

Jose Abreu’s Next Homer, I put ice in my coffee in the morning because I’m too impatient to wait for it to cool on it’s own. I don’t know how common that is. I like it warm, not hot or cold.

I hope everyone has a good weekend.

Tuesday, in relation to the Tobacco Settlement $$, asked about the location of Fast Eddie and was told he was in “College” … apparently not. Rather, he’s in a halfway house in Chicago. Hide the Tobacco Money! /s ??

Material shipment 4 days late. 2 days left to do a 6 day job. Tracking says it is out for delivery, said that yesterday too. So coffee and hope right now. Other than that everything is peachy. Sunny and 74 here in Athens Ga..

  21. - NonAFSCMEStateEmployeeFromChatham - Friday, Apr 29, 22 @ 11:50 am:

Sad day in Knox County. The death of one of their sheriff’s deputies this morning resulted from a car chase on US 150 between Galesburg and Alpha hitting the deputy’s car. Details are still coming out.

Lee Elia Day…when obscenities became epic. I mean, if that wasn’t an epic rant, I don’t know what was.
    – Have Zoysia grass, so the weeds are greener than the lawn so far; have to mow the weeds soon. But it’s a tough grass; takes drought and cold well.
    – A respectful moment of silence for the fallen Knox County deputy. His life was stolen from him, not given willingly, in protecting the law-abiding.

Proud of my hometown of Cary as home o Illinois’s first unionized Starbucks
