    I miss “morning shorts”

  2. - SouthernCentrist - Tuesday, Jul 12, 22 @ 8:54 am:

Good morning Rich - not particularly enjoying the meltdown that is happening with Chicago sports right now. I am a Cubs fan, but I don’t hold much animosity towards the Sox. Tough time for the Cubs, Sox, and particularly the Blackhawks. We still have the Bulls for now, I suppose.

  3. - SIUEalum - Tuesday, Jul 12, 22 @ 8:55 am:

Saw my first Willie Wilson for mayor ad on TV. Going to likely be a crazy mayoral campaign.

  4. - Just Sayin - Tuesday, Jul 12, 22 @ 9:06 am:

The Libertarians officially filed their statewide slate yesterday:

  5. - Jose Abreu's Next Homer - Tuesday, Jul 12, 22 @ 9:08 am:

been seeing a few Dr Willie Wilson for Mayor small billboards in the NWside while driving on Elston. Think I’ve seen two now.

  6. - JoanP - Tuesday, Jul 12, 22 @ 9:11 am:

    @ Just Sayin -

Gotta love that they nominated Jesse White (no relation) for SOS. Who do they think they are - Mike Madigan?

  7. - Just Sayin - Tuesday, Jul 12, 22 @ 9:11 am:

ABC Peoria’s story about the heated debate between the city’s mayor and City Council over COVID relief funds and violence prevention includes a picture of the Peoria City Council chambers.

For being a state capitol city, why can’t the city of Springfield ditch their lousy, early 60s area Easter Egg blue “council chambers” and move into a new, much more opulent City Council chamber? Perhaps a minature version of either the House or Senate chambers, or those in the Old State Capitol. And complete with a painting (preferably one that complies to DEI) in the background similar to Peoria’s. Although Springfield’s painting could feature Lincoln instead.

==Who do they think they are - Mike Madigan?==

Maybe they are related to the Madigan political family from Lincoln?

Although they’ve had a tough July so far (but all against the NL East and then the Dodgers looming on the schedule), you could consider switching your allegiance to the Birds on the Bat instead.

  12. - Chicago has a WNBA team too - Tuesday, Jul 12, 22 @ 9:16 am:

    @SouthCentrist

Check out the Chicago Sky. They are representing Chicago well.

  13. - vern - Tuesday, Jul 12, 22 @ 9:16 am:

The Pritzker meme crew is missing a really fun opportunity with the July Sumo Basho going on. Those guys are real athletes at the level of NFL linemen. I think there’d be a lot of crossover between ironic Pritzker fandom and Takakeisho fandom. He’s listed at 5′ 9″ 360lbs, it’s not easy to wrestle a guy shaped like a boulder.

  14. - ChicagoVinny - Tuesday, Jul 12, 22 @ 9:18 am:

The mystery autographed baseball I purchased as part of White Sox Charity day arrived. I got Johnny Cueto, which I am very ok with.

  15. - low level - Tuesday, Jul 12, 22 @ 9:22 am:

    Fire Tony

==The Libertarians officially filed their statewide slate yesterday:==

At least for this year Kash Jackson did something that the trio of Dan, Paul and Pat are refusing to consider doing. Going away.

  17. - Dance Band on the Titanic - Tuesday, Jul 12, 22 @ 9:27 am:

    - SouthernCentrist -
At least Bears season is coming up.

    On second thought, nevermind.

  18. - a drop in - Tuesday, Jul 12, 22 @ 9:27 am:

Chicago Red Stars are second in the National Women’s Soccer League.

  19. - Ron Burgundy - Tuesday, Jul 12, 22 @ 9:34 am:

When the GOP slate is in contention to overtake the Libertarians for wackiness…

  20. - Homebody - Tuesday, Jul 12, 22 @ 9:39 am:

I don’t know enough about Kam Buckner, but he at least seems to be saying the right things so far.

  21. - 10th ward - Tuesday, Jul 12, 22 @ 9:55 am:

    Fire TLR

  22. - Amalia - Tuesday, Jul 12, 22 @ 10:44 am:

disappointed that Adler was not represented in today’s Webb image world wide release event. but the images are so cool.

  23. - Amalia - Tuesday, Jul 12, 22 @ 10:46 am:

isn’t today go final day for election counts, although still awaiting certification?

  24. - Just Sayin - Tuesday, Jul 12, 22 @ 11:27 am:

==Gotta love that they nominated Jesse White (no relation) for SOS. ==

If actually elected (which won’t happen), will he start his own group of Tumblers?

  25. - Dotnonymous - Tuesday, Jul 12, 22 @ 12:04 pm:

    “I miss “morning shorts”

I mis-read that to say “morning shots”… and felt so grateful I haven’t needed one since August 14, 1982.

  26. - Just Sayin - Tuesday, Jul 12, 22 @ 12:39 pm:

Anyone remember what they were doing and what happened 43 years ago tonight?

  27. - Just Sayin - Tuesday, Jul 12, 22 @ 12:42 pm:

Bill Redpath is the Libertarian US Senate candidate. Any chance he might be related to Springfield alderman Chuck Redpath (former D now ultra R).

  28. - Lurker - Tuesday, Jul 12, 22 @ 1:40 pm:

To my Chicago friends, is “The Bear” accurate?

  29. - low level - Tuesday, Jul 12, 22 @ 2:45 pm:

==Anyone remember what they were doing and what happened 43 years ago tonight?==.

Yeah. My family and I went grocery shopping at Jewel. When we got home, we turned on Channel 44 and my Dad yelled “WHAT THE HELL IS EVERYONE DOING ON THE FIELD???”

  32. - Springfield Architect - Tuesday, Jul 12, 22 @ 4:46 pm:

Springfield Municipal Building is handsome modern building - representative of the best of 1960s design, by Phillip Trutter & M.D. Turley. I especially like the asymmetrical design of the 7th street lImestone facade w stainless steel signage & aqua glazing

  33. - G'Kar - Tuesday, Jul 12, 22 @ 8:26 pm:

More proof that Chicago is basically a H E Double L hole. Only US city to make the list.
