There are more craft beer breweries per capita in all states bordering Illinois, except Kentucky. But we have Chicago, you say. Ok, similar states such as Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, all have more breweries per capita than Illinois. We cannot be the greatest state until we rectify this(bp)

I wish Illinoisans could see the AG’s BIG Audit from my perspective - but everyone wants to see the bad from the state administration. If they actually reviewed the report you would realize the findings are not detrimental and the program did help those awarded. Tired of the pessimists…

School awards ceremony for the youngest grandson today. Same for the oldest one tomorrow. Later in the day the usual volunteer at a church based after school program. And maybe car repair.
As to local (Sangamon County) politics, this is a couple of days after the fact, but glad to see they are starting to move ahead on another homeless shelter in spite of the naysayers and NIMBY’s. It’s probably not the optimum location, but something is better than nothing.
To Lurker’s point (9:02 a.m.): My respected colleagues, we cannot let this stand (banned punctuation) We’ve got to do something (banned punctuation) Harrumph (banned punctuation).
I am in Iowa right now. I have been enjoying some Iowa beer, Millstream and Backpocket among others. Seems the local grocer’s (HyVee) prefers to sell local beers. I think at one time there was also a much lower liquor tax on locally made wines (most Iowa wine is err umm undrinkable) and beers (often very good German style lagers, but also stouts).
The iconic 70 y/o Dairy Queen owners in Carbondale lit the sign for the last time last night. Quite the event in Carbondale as many gathered for one last photo, reminisce, and say goodbye to the landmark. Owners indicate that although DQ pulled the franchise (it was still the old-school walk-up ice cream treats only type of store), they hope to soon reopen as an independent ice cream shop.

Attended the Nate Bargatze show at UIS last night. Very good. Highlight of the night was definitely his dad’s routine.
