I’ll also be getting the new COVID booster Monday at one of the local Walgreens. Apparently Sangamon County public health isn’t offering the boosters at their facility, at least not yet.
Too young for RSV vaccine but I haven’t checked whether immunocompromised people like me can get it at my age.
Today is the last day of summer. Always goes by too fast.
Every time it is autumn in an even-numbered year I feel so lazy because I’m not constantly walking through strange neighborhoods, walking on doors, and eating day-old pizza and donuts.
=Getting my covid booster and RSV vaccine at CVS this morning.=
I had my covid booster and RSV set for this past Monday and my PCP told me vaccines were more effective when taken at least 2 weeks apart. So I only received the booster Monday
Annoyed by Durbin piping up with a gripe about the Senate dress code change.
Here’s hoping he does the right thing and calls for Bob Menendez to resign… today… but I am not holding my breath since Senate Dems refused to address Menendez as a problem the last time he was under indictment.
On good side I just started reading a really good book that is essentially Chicago-land history. It’s called Rising Up From Indian Country by Ann Keating. On the bad side I saw my first stink bug outside a window and so I have to keep my doors closed for a couple of weeks just when the weather is getting to when I like it the most.
Speaking of which, anyone have any good suggestions for keeping them away? I heard someone say if you rub your window screens with dryer sheets it would help but don’t know if that really is true or not.
No doubt the Senator is an embarrassment . But, he won his last corruption trial. So, if he resigned before he was found not guilty then the legal system looks unjust. We don’t live in a perfect world. So, if he’s convicted , he’s convicted. Yes, he’s an embarrassment. But, you should check out the rest of the Senate. That’s who the voters voted for.
I’ve been looking at my city’s current annual Total Compensation Report. Here’s a tiny excerpt from it that I’m calling “A Tale of Three Pension Funds” and it goes like this:
City manager: salary $157,594, IMRF contribution $14,009.
Police chief: salary $157,594, police pension contribution $104,485.
Fire chief: salary $157,594, fire pension contribution $152,236.

===Durbin … Senate dress code===
Was wondering if Rich was going to have something on it.
I’ll hold off, but I do have a thought or three on this.

Just Me 2,
Surprised the neighbors don’t complain about you walking on their doors. Also that’s got to be a great exercise to work off those stale donuts.

I’ve heard of sprinkling cayenne pepper powder along the windowsill/exterior doorway to keep them away. It works for other bugs too.

Came up in casual conversation today…has any evidence ever been shown that the WRA/Amendment 1 increased anyone’s property taxes?
