The 60 Minutes piece on Super Ego, a trucking company posing as a truck and trailer leasing company is must see.
This company is one example of many of how unscrupulous companies and trucking brokers suck the money out of the trucking industry and in this case suck the money out of the U.S. economy. It has eroded safety standards and creates peril for all of us and our families as we drive on Illinois interstates.
In Illinois, the state police is the only agency authorized to become fmcsa certified to enforce federal standards such as hours of service rules. I think we need to rethink that. The fmcsa training is in-person only, is demanding and intensive. If there are agencies willing to put their officers through that training, there is a need for additional enforcement. The ISP simply isn’t and cannot meet the enforcement needs of this problem and motorists are dying because of it. Every time a semi fails to slow for stopped traffic in an interstate construction zone and kills innocent motorists, this is why. The lack of enforcement of fmcsa rules and state distracted driving laws.
love the sun today. but wondering how everyone is doing in the aftermath of the large rains. Des Plaines River really high, lots of basements got water on far NW side of Chicago. Driving East on Devon into Chicago never seen the golf course in Edgebrook with so much water. quite concerning.

In addition to ISP, SOS also needs to become authorized to enforce trucker hours of service rules, including FMCSA training. Maybe even Financial and Professional Regulation as well–even though if it was up to me I would like to see IFPR moved out of being a Code Agency and put under the Secretary of State’s office instead.
Rhiannon Giddens is incredibly talented, in so many aspects of music. A true treasure.

SuperEgo has a major base in Elmhurst. It’s clear that Feds are ineffectual at curtailing this stuff, whether by design or just lack of funding isn’t the issue right now. But as a state I want to see us do something to deal with this company and others like it, make it too much of a hassle for them to keep endangering the public and ripping off our citizens. Kwame and Alexi need to team up on this.

Looking forward to a great day here in beautiful DuPage County, maybe hitting 80 degrees. Maybe mow the front lawn, maybe not.
Giddens is a huge talent. Thanks for sharing…

Glad that City News Cafe in Chicago was able to reopen quickly after being hit by an allegedly stolen vehicle.

Could you do an Oscar post? We had to put Bernie down and I could use a good Oscar pic.
