Thank you to Leader Greg Harris and all others who celebrate.
For those who missed National Talk Like a Pirate Day on Saturday, condolences.
For those who forgot to celebrate National Wife Appreciation Day yesterday, no worries, she’s probably used to it.
Tonight I’ll be making my first batch of chili of the year. I’ve been holding out despite all of the rain because it has technically been summer, but I can hold out no longer.
Dave - thanks for referencing Leader Harris. He & I once discussed starting the “Cake for Breakfast” caucus but could not get it off the ground. Oh well.
I went to Chicago Story Fest at the Athenaeum Theater on Friday. It was a “live journalism show” and was honestly one of the most creative stage productions I’ve ever seen.
It featured journalists from the Tribune, Illinois Answers Project, Block Club, etc. as well as comedians, all accompanied by a jazz band and impeccably curated visuals. It was such a beautiful way for journalists to add some color to the stories we normally just see in black and white. The theme was “villains” so we heard stories about Greg Bovino, problematic city departments, school principals, and even a grumpy neighbor. I highly recommend checking it out if they host another event in Chicago.
